Labradoodles as Service Dogs

At Gleneden Labradoodles, we have always taken pride of the work we do to deliver the healthiest Labradoodle puppies to our repeat and new customers. AKC does not recognize the Labradoodle breed, but they do recognize an amazing service dog.

The Service Dog Story

We sold one of our beautiful Labradoodle puppies to a customer a while back, and later on, this Labradoodle puppy became the very first Labradoodle service dog in the country. The beautiful thing is AKC recognizes this Labradoodle as one of the top three service dogs in the country. We are very proud to have given this Labradoodle dog a wonderful home and life with their owner.

The Labradoodle Personality

Labradoodles are known to be the best family dogs around. They are loving and friendly dogs who get along with people and other dogs. They’re energetic and loving, which makes them very pleasant to be around. We believe that all of our Labradoodles have the potential to do great things for people who take them home, and this includes becoming service and therapy dogs.

Splash

Splash has proven himself to be very special. I’ve had dogs all of my life. He is near the top on problem solving, emotive capability and he wants to serve. He is also quite dominant and that has actually helped with all of the formal training. He bonded with me solidly and I started him in public a few weeks after he arrived. House training took 4 days and was easy; I assume you had him a crate because that and his approach to sleeping at night was great on day 1. He alerts to a medical condition that I suffer from and helps me to mitigate it. He had that task reliably by 6 months old. He’s completed the CGC and the Public Access Tests will come soon. He already does well…we attended a 2 day US Army conference at the Hyatt Regency in Reston.  He was a champ.

This dog has changed my life.  Thank you, Thor (3/2/25)

Harper

We are happy to say that our 2nd Gleneden labradoodle, Harper, is an all-star registered therapy dog.  Harper is now 6 and completed her training about a year ago.  She visits a local elder care and rehabilitation facility every week.  The residents love her and are so excited to visit with her.

Her amazing demeanor is loved by all she visits with as well as friends and family.  We plan on continuing to be a Gleneden labradoodle family for many years to come.
